I have created a second collection where I want to import my mp3 files.
I have all my physical CDs (~1000) also as mp3 files and therefore I get the message box “album already exist, import anyway?”.
Is there a setting to prevent this message box or do a bulk “yes, do it”?
Because it’s annoying to click more than 1000 times on yes
I’m using Music Collector 23.1.1 64-bit on a Windows 11 PC
I too have physical media, most with mp3 versions. I would suggest importing/cataloguing your mp3 files with a different program such as MediaMonkey (free version). One click will do the lot . With good tags including ‘album artist’ (‘name’ or ‘various’ for comps) and ‘artist’ for each track MM4 (which I use ) gives a nice display on your PC. Even better with album cover in the tag. Great for playing tracks too.
In Music Collector I have a User Defined field MP3 yes or no. Each entry (especially CD albums) is annotated accordingly and you can display lists of the yes’s and no’s and the ‘not yet assigned’. I’m still building this. You can edit albums directly from these lists. The User Defined field is display to the right of Details for each MC entry. Can’t recall if the UD field was added automatically or if I had to do something. Importing tracks into MC I’ve found a bit slow going so have stopped doing this. As a cataloguing system though it’s first rate
Hope this may help
We don’t have a bulk yes on that in the legacy Windows software.. sorry about that.
But: would it not be better to link the files to the albums you already have? That is probably even more work, but at least you would just have one collection with your tracks attached to the albums you already had added!
Sorry that I don’t have a better solution.
Indeed, other (dedicated file cataloging) software might be better. Even Plex comes to mind - although MediaMonkey is more music file focused.
