Importing games from GOG, Steam, ...?

Hi,

I am collecting physical videogames since over 40 years, but nowadays we face the fact that even more games are released only in virtual gamestores like GOG, Steam and whatever. So by now I add all of these games manually to Game Collector and for now it´s ok. But in not so far future, when most of the games will be released only virtually it would be great, if I can add them automatically.

Is there a chance that this will ever happen?

Thx,
Thomas

PS: If there already exits a solution, please be so kind and tell me!

Hi Thomas,

We add all new releases every week (including download only games) and these can be added with a title search. There will definitely be games missing since most of our users collect physical releases, but we will add the missing games if they are reported or submitted.

It is not (yet) possible to import games directly from GOG or Steam and I can’t say if that will ever be possible, but the games are in our database and can be added to your collection.

Hi Martin,

this I know and for download only games I do it like this since years.

But over the years I got a lot of games that I own physically AND virtually in addition and for that reason I wanted to add them automatically.

For physical games I use the barcode scanner on the mobile app and it works great.

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

You can just add them with a title search. There is no need to add them manually. And if a game is not in CORE you can report it here and we will add it to the database for you as soon as possible.

Hello Martin,

thanks, and yes, I know that.

Here is an example of what I am talking and this game is not one of my favorites, but it explains what I mean.

Search for: Trepang2; bought on GOG.

Result of the mobile app: System: PC, Format: Download → no possibility to select GOG
Result of the Game Collector Client: System: PC, Format: Download -->no possibility to select GOG

In both cases I have to add manually which medium (publisher) I want to select exactly.
This is ok for one game, but not acceptable for hundreds of games.
So. if there is a way to avoid this, I would be grateful for any better solution.

But, and that’s my rather personal opinion, you do a very good job and I hope you understand that all is a view of an collector who only wants to get more efficient.

Thx,
Thomas

The Format of games will always differ in this case. Unfortunately, with GOG or Steam games it is not possible to add a media release because it does not have a barcode. But it is not necessary to add this game completely manually, you can best add the “download” version to your database and then you only have to change the format to GOG.

I will investigate if it can be easier to add GOG, Steam, Epic Game Store or other download channels to our database. If something changes there, we will let you know.

Thank you very much!
