So if I understand it well: the web version doesn’t support import of files and the desktop version (having this feature) is discontinued. Why then let users switch to the web version if not all of the features are implemented?
I do have 2 computers running the desktop version. One with the latest version, giving an error when started, another not running the latest version working well. Because of this and having the ‘final’ version I will have to keep this computer running.

Because for most of our users, the set of features is exactly what they need. Adding/Linking to music files was used by a small group of users and as explained many times on the forums etc., adding links to local files on a PC is just not something for a web-app to do - nor is scanning a “local harddrive” via a website (can you imagine the security problems).
For your situations it’s entirely clear you should stick to the Windows version, and that is entirely okay too. Feel free to keep using it, and if you run into errors (like keep this computer running) please let me know about them see if we can help you. Just let me know.
