Invalid ISBN but ISBN is printed in the book

This is for the original 1977 edition
The Destroyer #27: The Last Temple
number on Spine: 523-40017-3-125 partial ISBN and price.
On the copy right page: 0-523-40-017-3

but the core returns 0523400173 as an invalid ISBN

When I check that ISBN on various ISBN checkers, it is simply not valid.

This looks like it might be a miss print.

I would advise to just search it by author/title in Core, or add it manually if no actual correct ISBN is present anywhere on or in the book

Strange error though.

An ISBN-13 always starts with ‘978’. When I expand this ISBN-10 by adding ‘978’, I get the correct book: 9780523400173. I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong with the ISBN-10, but this is at least a simple workaround.
