Hi, I recently looked into this one. However it looks like I missed #49. Will look at it again just so I can clarify what I did and why. First of all: A cameo is a brief/short appearance. That wording doesn’t work for this team in these issues. They appear teamed up throughout these books.

Up until 2011 (Justice League Dark #1), these characters were just joining forces. These books were DC’s horror characters team ups. That’s where the “unofficial” comes into play. By going trough these and according to their release dates I added the following:

The characters that are used within this team pre 2011 are the following (this becomes important in my reasoning):

  • Swamp Thing
  • Doctor Fate
  • Etrigan the Demon
  • Phantom Stranger
  • Deadman
  • The Spectre

Again, DC’s horror characters team up books

    This team up consists of the following characters:

    • Phantom Stranger
    • Deadman
    • The Spectre
    • Etrigan the Demon

  • Swamp Thing, Vol. 2 #49: 2nd team app. Justice League Dark (unofficial)
    This team up consists of the following characters:

    • Doctor Fate
    • Deadman
    • Phantom Stranger
  • Swamp Thing, Vol. 2 #50: 3rd team app. Justice League Dark (unofficial)
    This team up consists of the following characters:
    • Swamp Thing
    • Doctor Fate
    • Deadman
    • Phantom Stranger
  • Justice League Dark, Vol. 1 #1: 1st team app. Justice League Dark (official)
    This is where the team up gets their official team name which is why en when the “official” wording is used.

The following characters do appear in these issues but are not teaming up with the characters mentioned here. These are now considered members of this team:

-Zatanna
