Links missing when using Web to add titles

I noticed when I add movies with the Web application (and Mobile as well) that the links are not populated. When I use the Desktop application to add movies the Links to IMDB, TheMovieDB and Moviemeter are added automatically.

Not a big deal, but I wonder if there is a reason behind this? Is it a bug? Or something on your todo list?

We’ve decided against including links to moviedb and moviemeter on Web when we started with it. It is also not to do I’m afraid.
[edit: the above is not correct, see my post below]

IMDb link is “included” though, you can click the yellow IMDb rating icon in the details panel to go to the IMDb page of the movie!

@CLZ_AJ I’m just curious, do you recall what the rationale was behind that decision?

I went back a bit and I’m seeing that we didn’t really decided against this. Sorry for posting that.

When CLZ Movies Web launched (as Movie Connect back then) we didn’t have “web links”. That was added later. It just never occurred to us when we introduced links there to provide the links to TheMovieDB and MovieMeter. I’ll take this as a feature request then.

Sweet! That would be awesome! Thanks!

BTW @CLZ_AJ , is there someplace where we all could vote on the feature requests? Or is that private to the development team?

Sorry, there is no way to vote on features, no. We have a good overview of what people seem to want, where they seem to have trouble with the app, or what could be better. And the forum is one of those ways of course.

Thanks! I was just curious.

It would be great to have an IMDb link. Movies that are in Box Sets don’t show an IMDb link and this is an annoying omission. I frequently need to visit the IMDb page for a particular movie and it is inconvenient to have to enter the title on a separate IMDb web page just because the movie is part of a box set

@Gunz
Actually, the IMDb logo is a link to the movie :slightly_smiling_face: give it a try.

There is no IMDb logo and that’s the problem and why I would like to be able to add the link. St least for my collection

@Gunz
Ok I see. Is this the case for all entries in your collection or only for box sets? If the IMDb logo is missing from all entries then something is really wrong.

I have currently 2 583 movies in my collection and 96 are without IMDb logo/Rating. All 96 are contained within box sets or 'double feature’s. There are a further three movies without IMDb information which are not contained within box sets

I have only recently switched from Movie Collector Desktop to Web edition. The movies contained within box sets for the Desktop edition also did not contain IMDb information but I was able to insert that manually. When I imported the Desktop information into the Web edition the IMDb information was lacking but I am unable to insert it manually

When importing box sets I always select the option to treat each movie as an individual entry but they do not then have the IMDb information

I use a barcode scanner to Add Movies

@Gunz If a film is missing its IMDB, just request it in the Core Errors forum. If it’s within IMDB they’ll add it for you. I’ve only been turned down once.

Thanks for that. It’s only when the movie is part of a box set that this occurs. I think it is due to the way that CLZ catalogue box sets. Of course there is no IMDb reference to the box set whose bar code I have scanned. This then seems to carry over to the individual movies within that box set

@Gunz , What you are saying is not true. Every box set I added with Movie Collector (The old desktop application) has an IMDB reference for each movie in the box set. This also applies to modern Web application.

So if it does not work for you, something else must be the problem. Can you share some example of boxsets where no IMDb ratings are visible? Then we can check it it works from our end.

Maybe your individual titles are not connected to Core. Only when that is the case I don’t have IMDb ratings. You can Link/Unlink to core from the menu:

Unfortunately it is true for me and that is what I am trying to resolve

I attach some screenshots

I have not yet attempted to Unlink and then again Link those movies, some of which were added as far back as 2014. The box set procedure under the Desktop editions was changed several times in those early years and I wonder whether that has caused my problem

I have found that Unliking and then (re) Linking did the trick. Now there are only two movies without IMDb references and I have submitted them to core for consideration
