I’m just getting started on this app. I have been inputting from my excel spreadsheet and have focused on Various Artists entries. I’m in the 1960’s releases and even “Woodstock” gives no vinyl results. I know i can add a cd entry and edit the format, but shouldn’t more vinyl versions be found?
Maybe cross-referencing with discogs might help.
BTW - single-artist entries always give me plenty of vinyl options. I think it is particularly a “various artists” phenomenon.
If you use the Add Albums screen on the “by Artist/Title” tab, you can use the filter to only show vinyls (if available in your results).
But, a better way of finding vinyl albums might be the Catalog Number.
Can you try searching for the Catalog number and see if you can find it? Using the Add Albums screen on the Cat. No. tab, and entering it there will likely find your vinyl album.
Catalog numbers are printed on vinyls, usually a string of Letters and Numbers!
Pulling out all the vinyl (again) kind of defeats the idea that I can quickly transfer the spreadsheet info (compiled over years) and update it to this top-notch app.
But, in the long run, it might prove worthwhile. And it’s a good excuse to get these albums out again.
Ah I was thinking you were looking at the actual vinyls anyway!
Of course it would be good to get them out again!
But still: Just to make sure there isn’t a different problem:
Could you give me a couple of exact artist/title/year vinyls that you would expect a result for? I just wanna verify you’re not getting any/very little results for those.
For what it’s worth, I enter a lot of vinyl and find for older albums the catalog number usually brings up good options. Cover images are often crappy though - low res, poorly aligned phone pics are common, especially on older albums.
Ah okay good. Well, you can always leave “Artists” out of it, as just searching various will definitely also pull any results that do have “artists” in there
