This is not exactly about errors, but it’s also not about missing comics so I’m putting it here. I’ve found two comics where they are Mile High variants, but that’s not noted. The two comics are:
Both of these are also Mile High Comics variants (even having their little logo on the cover).
Would it be possible to get that noted in the core description? Maybe similar to how Deadpool, Vol. 4 #30C has the “Denver Comic Con/Mile High Variant” in its description since it has both designations?
We don’t do shop names in the key descriptions anymore. We came to this conclusion because of a few reasons:
They were making the variant descriptions way too long by shops sharing their exclusive with other stores.
From viewpoint of you, the user trying to identify a comic only using the cover (in this case, their logo is on the front cover)
From the viewpoint of us, trying to identify a comic to add to Core. And it’s always the artists as in his/her/their cover. It was only commissioned by the store.
For the future, if a book is passed around a bunch of different owners, it’s only important to know which artist it is, not the store (from a comic database point of view, not hating on stores at all here!). Those future owners are not going to care which store it is from. That store is most likely not around anymore by that time.
Now, we are looking at adding new fields to actually include the store name. Especially when you have stores sending us the info of their exclusives. Hope this answers your question
That does make sense. I’ll use a tag for now. But that leads to a question… If I use a tag for now and I want to populate that data into your custom field later, how could I do that? This sort of links to the conversation about using Notes fields as a source (here: Using bulk edit to edit Notes). If I put the data in a tag, then how would I bulk transfer to a non-Tag field later without using some kind of transformation? If I put the data in a custom field now, what if I choose a different format (e.g. I put in “Mile High Comics” and you have a multi-select like the “Signed By” that says “Mile High” - not a great example but you get what I mean I’m sure) and how would that transfer work then?
Basically, I want to make a good choice to record he data now that gives me good options for what you do later. If I could programmatically manipulate the data during transfers that would make this moot. But in a world where I’m using your bulk transfer tool I want to be careful.
I recommend making a Custom Field, not tag. Just use Pick List. (not multivalue pick list)
Most chance that if we ever decide to introduce a field for this, it will be a pick list field (don’t hold me to it though, but that is just most likely).
