Missing Completed in Hardware items

Good morning. I am missing the “Completed” fields in the Hardware items.

Secondly, I am missing Publisher in Hardware too (I can’t specify the brand for example, I need to add that in the item name)

In general it would be great if I can add/remove fields myself (from the available fields).

Thanks

“Completed” field in game is for when you’ve finished a game.
That’s why that is not a field in Hardware.

“Completeness” however, on the value tab, is a field for games and hardware. You can enter if the hardware item is “New”, “Complete in Box” or “Loose”. Depending on what you choose, the value also changes.

As for adding your own fields: that is a feature that is coming up for early 2026!

@Spindizy have you tried the new Custom Fields feature already?

I have just started using the custom fields and this is a great addition to the page.

Have you given a thought about being able to use it for links ?

This would allow us to have a clickable link within the list, not only on the detail view.

Thanx

@stanchubb good to hear you feel it’s a good addition!

We did discuss this, but we felt the Web-app already has a dedicated place for users to place a weblink, and you can place as many as you like. Is this not good enough for you? Can you explain your use-case for this?

What do you mean with a clickable link “within the list” ?

The existing links field is like a table with the possibility of having several links.

Because it’s like a table, it can’t show up in the list view (only one line). Nothing wrong with that, it fits a specific use.

But I was wandering how to have a field/column showing in the list view that could have one clickable link, instead of having to go into the detail view to find the links. I though I would be able to have this with the new user-defined fields. It’s mainly because I don’t use the detail view much (I’m a spreadsheet guy). I understand it could only be one link, and that I would still need to go to the detail view if I was ever to want more than one link for a game.

I am not sure if I made that clearer of muddier. he he.

I don’t think that adding a Link type for Custom Fields is a good idea. We already allow adding custom links, on the Links tab, that is what that feature is for.

I understand your need to have a clickable link that can be added as a column in the List View. But I am a bit surprised by your request.

  • you want to add clickable link in the List View
  • but at the moment that is not possible with the Links feature
  • so you come up with a workaround: use a Custom Field!
  • but, oh noes, there is no Link field type for custom fields :frowning:
  • so your request to us is to add a Link type there, so that you can create a link field and then add it as a column

That feels like you are asking us to fix the workaround that you came up with
As opposed to just asking a fix for the ORIGINAL problem, that is: the Links cannot be added as a column.

From where I am standing, that would be a more logical and easier solution

OK, It looks like I am being told off.

You are correct, I was trying to find a work around the fact that the current links fields look like a table to me, which would not be compatible with a list view.

I did ask about that subject in our previous email conversation, when you were trying to find out if I would purchase the subscription:

Hi Stanley,

I have added some links in one of my games (namely Rustler if you want to look), but I can’t seem to be able to get them to show in table viewing when I edit the columns view list.

Links can indeed not be added as a column at the moment, because there can be multiple links, so it doesn’t really fit a list view column.

If this is correct, is there a specific reason for that ? Is it simply because the links seem to be a table-like structure ?

If that’s the case, maybe being able to chose one of the link with a check box could allow to show just one of the links to the list view (maybe new feature to submit ?)

Mmm, not sure.
The links DO show in the game details area!

As you see I had proposed a solution which would not use the new fields.
After this I was just hoping that the user-defined fields would resolve my problem.
I do hope you can find a solution to my own little annoyance, that would be great.

Please do understand there is no passive aggressive in my request, simply some wish.

Would you be happy if just all links show if you activate the column? Or like just the first link in your list..?

  • Why do you not use the details panel?
  • What kind of links are you putting in per game?

No, not really. I just found it interesting that you did not ask for a solution for the ORIGINAL problem, but instead came up with a WORKAROUND, then asked for a fix with the workaround.

That is funny to me, sorry

Links can indeed not be added as a column at the moment, because there can be multiple links, so it doesn’t really fit a list view column.

The multiple links can be appended, with a | separate for instance, allowed to “wrap” inside the column. Or it could be set to just show the FIRST link in the column.
I see that as an easier and more logical solution?

I do use the details panel, but a lot less than the list. To me it’s only a secondary view I access if I want to read details that I have not set to show in the list.

Being of a spreadsheet background, I find it easier and quicker to have all my main information on one global view, and I do appreciate it’s MY way of using the data, whilst a lot of people would use the service a complete different way. There is nothing wrong with the details panel itself.

Your solution of showing only the first link of the link table feels quite good, and sound like a simple solution to put in practice.
Having ALL the links showing in list view would definitely not be my own preference.

Links would mainly be back to webpage giving more in depth details about the game.
(maybe development history, information on series, …)
I will have to think long and hard which category of information I want the first link to be so I keep some consistency across my collection.

Thank you for spending your time on my personal issue.
