Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but thought I would alert you to something that happens to me. I just recently bought the foil cover for House of Mystery #92, but when I tried to enter it into my database by using the camera option to find the image, the foil cover is not listed as an option. (When you use the camera when entering new issues, I assume all variants come up…original, millennium edition, etc.) But for me the foil does not come up.
I then go into the search option that lists all variants the core has listed and the foil variant IS there….huh? Shouldn’t the foil cover be one of the variants listed when using the camera to find a variant? I don’t know, anyway, it doesn’t come up for me. Thought I would bring this up. I included the image and back cover of the foil variant.
(When you use the camera when entering new issues, I assume all variants come up…original, millennium edition, etc.)
Actually no, that does not happen. The Add by Scanning the Cover screen is really an image matcher only. If the match score is too low, it won’t show in the results.
If you wish to see all variants of an issue, I recommend using the By Series tab and find the series and go that way.
Or the By Issue tab, where you can type (part of) a series title, and just the plain issue number.
Is it only frustrating for these foil covers for you? Foil covers are a bit more difficult for the cover scanner to catch, but you could always try the Barcode scanner option in the Add Comics screen for these.
Or do you have this often where it is frustrating not all variants of a found comic shows up?
This has only happened with this cover. Only one that does not bring up all options is with this option. I just thought it funny that the foil doesn’t come up. Has not happened with any other cover.
Yeah foils have been somewhat notoriously difficult to “match” on a photo (I’m sure you can imagine). Alright, good to hear it was only frustrating for this one.. so far
