Music Collector Cobalt.5.6 Pro not connecting to cloud

Help! I have not used Music Collector for many years. I’m getting back into collecting and cataloging music again (CDs & vinyl). The last time I bought the software was around 2012 (Cobalt.5.6 Pro). I know it’s way out of date. The database still opens on my Windows 7 computer but I can’t automatically add or update albums. I tried via barcode and by scanning a CD in a drive. The check connection button says “Could not connect”. Searching results in nothing. I know I can manually add albums, but that will take forever. I added the software to the allowed programs in the Windows Firewall settings. That did nothing to fix the connection problem. I also have a Windows 10 computer that never had Music Collector on it. I was able to download and install the desktop version with my old clz.com account. I was also able to transfer my .muc database and Images and Thumbnails and Templates folders to the Windows 10 computer and I got the software working on it, but again it cannot connect or download any album data from the CLZ cloud. Is it not connecting because the Cobalt version is too old? I did read some threads on this forum which say the desktop version was discontinued last year :frowning: but it seems some limited support is still being offered. I don’t want to move to the web app. I’m willing to pay for a new subscription or buy a newer version of the desktop software.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of Music Collector that you are allowed, and see if this runs ok.
If it doesn’t work, then you will need to pay for a subscription to the latest version of Music Collector. It may not work on Windows 7, but will definitely work on Windows 10.
The desktop version is NOT discontinued. It will continue to receive support for the foreseeable future, and there may be maintenance releases, but there will be no new features.

If you don’t have an existing account you will be stymied I think. If you do you may be able to renew your sub and download version 23.1.1.
I believe new accounts to buy desktop Music Collector are not possible.
