I am somewhat of a freak for variant covers. A collection/run of a series is not complete for me until I own them all.
What I have liked about the CLZ desktop software has been the ability to added variant covers I don’t have to my wish list.
What I have been experiencing lately (for a little while to be honest) is when I try to add a missing variant cover it will tell me that I already have that book in my database (which is possible) but I am not able to see it.
I have checked all filters to make sure nothing is enabled. When I sync with the cloud and I check the CLZ cloud the book does not show.
I have followed all steps to try and fix the issue. I read on the internet that If it says anything other than “Filter: [None]” at the bottom of the software bar there is a filter active. At the bottom it currently says “Series First Letter = “D”. However when I have the “All” selected in the “letter row” it then shows the Filter: [None] (see below snips)
I went to Search > Filter On/Off from the menu to ensure all filters were off but still not able to see the books that the software keeps telling me are already in my database. I have reloaded my most current saved database but still same result. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this? Could my software or database be corrupted?
which exact series and issue and variant you’re trying to add
can you show me a FULL SCREEN screenshot where I can see the error message and your entire screen.
Can you show me another screenshot where I can see the SERIES folder for that exact series where it says you already have that issue, but you say you don’t?
I was working on series Detective Comics, Vol.2. I was trying to add any and all variant covers/books that I didn’t own.
Good news however; I was able to fig out the issue after I posted my question for help.
What was happening was every issue that I was adding for this series was ending up in a folder called “Empty Series”. It seemed to be a system generated folder that I had not recognized. When I opened that folder I saw dozens of copies of the books I was adding for this series.
I was getting the issue was already in my database message because it was but not in the correct folder. Doing some more research I found how to move these books from the “Empty Series” folder to the Detective Comics folder by merging the two. This moved all the books into the Detective Comics folder and in the correct sequenced order to boot.
I have since read why the CLZ desktop software will do this and how to remedy it should it happen again.
Thank you again AJ for responding. All is good now.
When added comic books appear in an “Empty Folder” in the CLZ software, it usually means you are in a specific view mode called “No Folders”. In this mode, the software hides the folder structure but an empty folder button/indicator might still appear, which is an expected behavior or a minor display glitch depending on the app version.
I was trying to recreate the google search phrase I had used to get the resolution but was not able to find it.
Hm, sounds weird still (also sounds like an AI solution perhaps) but at least it helped you find a solution! So that’s good. Let me know if you have further questions.
