Not all tracks/folders are scanned when scanning music

Hello. I am experiencing an issue with my Music Collectorz program.

The situation:

  1. I have a drive with music tracks contained within folders.
  2. I initiate a scan of my folders (looking for new tracks) and then bulk add the new files found during the scan.
  3. I find that all of the tracks are not scanned.

For example. I have 3 CDs from Daryl Hall. After the scan I find that the Daryl Hall folder was not scanned into the database. I see (and can listen to) the tracks in my folder, but it’s not in Music Collectorz. There are several instances of this happening.

Does anyone have an idea on what’s happening? And what I can/need to do to resolve this?

Thank you.

It could have something to do with the paths, or even with the files or tags inside the files.

Music Collector doesn’t skip files or folders, but if something is wrong in the naming, the paths, or the fileparsing you’ve set up in Music Collector it could indeed go wrong.

There is no sure-fire-way to tell you what exactly is going on without for instance us at support getting a ZIP of one of the 3disc album music files from you, and the exact path on your computer, and screenshot of your fileparsing.

If you use this: it will look at folder structure on your system and try to put the tracks on the right discs:

This smart system was introduced back in version 20:

And an update a couple days later:

You can also use parse settings, but I can’t help you with that exactly if

  • I don’t have your files
  • See your exact file structure and filenaming.

I hope you can figure it out by scanning the folder again, or try with JUST that specific multi-disc album to test it out.

Thank you for your reply.

I have a zip file I can share, but when I try to upload it I’m told it’s not an approved file to upload. I’ll try to upload/send to the email I received.

My file path is D:\Music\Daryl Hall

I’m not sure what you mean by parsing but I do not use the “use smart album grouping based on folder structure” option.

Also note that I have 68,283 albums and 789,465 tracks in my database. And I’ve only come across a handful of albums with this issue thusfar.

Thanks.

Note that I tried to send the *.zip file via the email I received alerting me to your response and that didn’t work either.
