I have had an issue when trying to scan barcodes for movies. Every single one is coming up as barcode not recognised, yet it comes up under title search. I am running Android 14. Can anyone help please?
So it is actually scanning the barcodes, it’s just not yielding a result.
That could mean we just don’t have your barcode yet. But when we don’t have one, the screen should popup for you to quickly search it, and add it anyway (which then also adds that barcode to that movie in our online database!!) - Have you seen that screen? Have you tried following that screen when a barcode could not be found?
Thank you for your reply.
I can understand it not recognising a barcode for, say, a newly released movie, but these codes, for example for Serengeti III, have been out for a few years now. Another one was Roadkill (starring Hugh Laurie), which also has been out for several years. When I search for them they come up instantly, so why would the barcode not be recognised? I thought the codes were never changed, ergo having the movie in your database would also have the barcode. Am I not understanding something? Sorry, I just hate not knowing why something happens.
Can you give us the barcodes for those movies?
When I search for them they come up instantly, so why would the barcode not be recognised? I thought the codes were never changed, ergo having the movie in your database would also have the barcode.
For most movies there are multiple releases on DVD and Blu-ray, maybe 4K too, all with their own barcode. Those are regional releases, different formats, limited/special editions, etc… For some popular movies, we have over 200 different barcodes listed.
If a movie is in our database, it is still possible that we are missing a particular DVD or Blu-ray release and its barcode.
On average, according to our server stats, our users are getting a 99% success rate on their barcode searches. So in other words, running into a “barcode not recognized” should be pretty rare.
I am wondering, is this a recent problem you are running into? Or has the adding by barcode never worked for you? Looking at your account, you have been using the app since 2019, so it must have worked in the past?
You are correct, it has always worked perfectly for me. This is only a recent problem.
Obviously I have added them now, therefore they should now be in your database. But here are the barcodes:
Serengeti III = 5051561045097
Roadkill = 5060797570648
Yes, these are listed in Core now.
But are you saying that adding by barcode does not work at all anymore for you?
The above 2 barcodes indeed were not listed in Core yet. Apparently no other users had ever scanned them As I said above, that should be rare.
The last 4 or 5 have not been recognised. It was when Serengeti III failed I thought this must be a popular one, loads of people will have scanned that! Apparently not. So perhaps I am just buying ones that have not been added to the database yet. I will monitor it for future ones and post again if there are any problems. At least these two are added now. Many thanks for your time and your help. Much appreciated.
Serengeti Season III has a total “cloud count” of 3, meaning that of all CLZ users, 3 people own this one.
For comparison, a movie like “Wonka” (2023) has a cloud count of 2324.
A sign of the times
