I have over 300 of the Very Short Introduction books. Each of them have an assigned number from original publish date. Eg, History is #13, Philosophy is #55. But if revised, keeps the original number. This isn’t in the Core Knowledge so I would like to add and sort by this. I realized this after 75 scans. Should I change index, issue? Or something else? On hold inputting for now!
If you can get them all up using the sort function you could add to the volume section on the first page, but I think you will have to do individually. I am manually adding a load of collections published early 20thC and have used the volume section for the book’s number in the collection.
I’m not sure about using the index number, because each book always automatically gets an index number on adding. I would recommend using a different field. Issue number field comes to mind. You can sort on it too.
I recommend trying it with just like 4 or 5 books, then sort a bit, see if you like the result.
Maybe Series: Philosophy
Issue 55?
Thank you. I tried to go back and change the index numbers to match the series number, and it was time consuming since I had scanned other books which now had those numbers.
So I started over and cleared all the books I scanned. My current plan is to go thru all of this series that I have and correct the index numbers every ten books or so. Leaving gaps as needed for future purchases.
In the list view, it is very helpful to have series number shown. There are over 750 in this series, and I’ve found about half of them so far. I’ve bought a dozen or so twice, so that’s the main reason I want to have the numbers on the main list.
I am wondering about just scanning the isbn of the books I don’t have and clicking the “not in collection” box.
That could work yeah. You can instantly filter on showing books “in collection” or “all” when you use the collection status filter top right in the app.
