Platform icons and names

There’s a few certain things that irks me, and it’s consistency.

I don’t know if others share the same thoughts.

Certain consoles like the NES, SNES, and PSP should use their long names:
Nintendo Entertainment System
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Playstation Portable

Or at worse follow the same suit as:
Family Computer / Famicom

So:
Playstation Portable / PSP

Is this something you can consider, or offer the user a choice of choosing the platform display name?

The next one is that I collect some less popular consoles and was wondering when an icon would be added.
Game & Watch
Sufami Turbo
Wonderswan
Wonder swan Color

For the last 2, it can be an easy edit of its logo here:

Thanks!!

It is unlikely that we are going to change the names of them in Core.

However:

In “Manage Pick Lists” and then “Platforms” you can modify the names of the platforms you get from us to suit your needs.

Using Manage Pick Lists, make sure to change the existing ones, so that your games will all automatically get the naming convention you like best!

Icons:
As for the icons you would like to have added, those are up for a big refresh indeed, and I’ve added some of yours to that list (and the others were already on there to be added

I support the request to add Game & Watch, and I add ZX Spectrum Next, a new and in-use platform

I added ZX Spectrum Next to the list as well.

I see ZX Spectrum NEXT as platform, but I can’t submit to core yet…

@kop

this topic and my reply for your ZX Spectrum Next was for me to add this platform icon to the list in the future, so you get a cool ZX Spectrum NEXT icon for that platform.

As for adding the NEXT as a platform for users to submit games too, that is a different story, we’re still debating that here to see if it has its place in our Core online database.

For now I advise to just add the games to your own collection with the platform you have created for it, and in a while (when we are going to work on new and update platform icons) it will get its platform icon at least.

Don’t worry about Core/submitting/other users for this one.

Ok, thanks. I didn’t know the usual process for this eventuality. My request was mainly to collaborate with the community and support the dissemination of new platforms. Obviously, I already have my catalog updated outside of the core
