Problems importing from DVD Profiler

Hi, i am went to the process of importing from dvd profiler and it went through no problem after a few tries . it said import completed. but, i don’t see the movies in my collection. Am i missing a step?

@mlbust can you send us your DVDProfiler XML as well?

You can send me the file(s) via:

ok, thank you. i just sent it.

I’m also having some troubles sending this through the import. I will ask my colleague tomorrow to take a look at the XML to see if anything is up with it.

Just to be sure, you followed the steps from CLZ Web?

  1. Start DVDProfiler on your computer.
  2. Click menu File > Export Profile Database
  3. Click Accept.
  4. Press “Next” and select the All profiles option.
  5. Press “Export”

(the all profiles thing was clicked?)

Yes, i did it a couple of times, and it says comleted, and it all goes through as instructed.

still not working . I tried again and it says import completed. but, nothing appears in my movie collection.

I’m afraid trying again won’t solve this!

I’m in touch with my colleagues who are planning to take a look at the XML file to see if anything is wrong with it or if we can import it for you I will be back in touch when I have more information, which I hope to have today.

Thank you for your patience.

I had the same problem a few months ago. The exported DVD Profiler XML file apparently contained too many errors for CLZ to process it.

Here was my workaround:

I opened the exported DVD Profiler XML file in Excel, extracted and edited the minimum essential data fields*
(this requires some skill, I searched for some “how to” guides on importing and processing XML data),
saved the table as a simple CSV file,
which I successfully batch imported into CLZ.
CLZ then found matching titles and populated all the other fields from its core database, with very few missing titles in my case.

  • fields I selected:
    • Barcode (EAN)
    • Title
    • Format
    • PurchasePrice
    • PurchasePlace

@gregoryschroeder thanks for that

However: @mlbust please hold off on trying anything yourself until one of our teammembers can take a look at your file. I just want to make sure what we’re dealing with here first.

@mlbust I’ve converted your file, succesfully imported it into your CLZ Movies Web account.

You can see them when you log in to Online movie database software » CLZ Movies Web

I’ve now put them as a separate collection, as a tab, at the bottom of your screen.

The items have not been linked to Core yet, (which will give you more data).

To do that, go here:

Can you please let me know if that worked or not?

Yes, Thank you that worked. linking 95% of them . the rest I have to do manually. Thank you .
