I have a request for a typical use case of mine: Whenever I loan out a movie to a person, we are standing in front of my collection in my Home Cinema room and all I have with me is my Phone. In those moments, it would be so useful to be able to register a movie as loaned directly with help of the Phone eg CLZ Movies Mobile. Same thing happens when somebody returns me a film.
It would be really helpful to have simple basic loan functionalities in CLZ Movies Mobile App:
Action to indicate the item is loaned or returned
Selection of existing loaner or definition of the new loaner
The more advanced Loan Manager functionalities like lists or history could still be reserved for the Web application.
Fun Fact: in the Movies Mobile App (IOS) I can already select a folder named “Loaner” - which does not exist in the Web version. With this folder I can already see per loaner the movies that are currently loaned out. So the data is already synched with the mobile version but there is no return action available.
Alternative Request: If the above request is to complicate to implement, I would suggest to implement at minimum a new collection status named “Loaned out” . I could then combine it with the use of the field “Owner” to remember to whom the film was loaned.
For Mobile:
The loan functionality for the mobile app is on our ideas list, but has not made the cut yet.
We agree it would be useful, and we have ideas about it: like a specific “Loan” screen where you first select if you want to LOAN OUT movies by scanning barcodes or type in a movie title, which get added to a bucket. Then select a loanee, and continue.
Returning loans would work similar. Could be by just scanning barcodes and say “these are now returned”.
We’d like to go all the way if we create this!
For Web:
Will put out “Loaner” as a folder on the folder field request list. I see you mentioned the Loan Manager already for Web, so I’m sure you found that.
Could you let me know what you are missing in the loan manager right now that would eliminate the need for the Loaner folder in main screen?
Great news, thank you for considering this feature request for your excellent mobile application. Considering my remark that there is a folder Loaner in the Movies Mobile that is not in the Movies Web version, I am not missing this folder in the Movies Web version. I was just pointing out that the Movies Mobile version had already the loan data synched with the Web Version (as I use both at the same time). Best regards.
Ah yes I see. Yeah, mobile always had the loan information, I think from version 1 on already (version 1 of our mobile app was a “direct export” over WiFi to the app, no editing at all
