A thought just crossed my mind.
If we have Purchase Store as a field, could we have a field for Sale Location? Obviously you can use tags, but staying consistent with the current layout (at least on the web), having a Sale Location field would be kind of neat. Then you can generate lists and see how well you did per location (ex: eBay, WhatNot, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and much more.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Not sure about this one, as it would take the app more and more in the direction of a “trading tracker” and that is currently not where we wanna focus.
An argument could be made that the Purchase store doesn’t even offer anything in regards to value, yet it’s there.
If you’re tracking 1. what the value of the book could be 2. what you paid 3. what you sold it for 4. along with all the dates and 5. where you bought it, it just makes logical sense to include where you sold it.
It’s information a collector can use to make a better judgment on how one might gain greater value for one’s collection, which I believe is what the app is looking to assist with. If you agree with that then you would agree the sale location field is a good thing to have.
???
So you are suggestion to REMOVE the Purchase Store field?
Absolutely not. Nothing in what I said even comes close to that. It’s about consistency. I’m saying what’s good enough to include a purchase store field is good enough to include a sale location. If where you buy is important enough to include the field, so too should it be to include where you sell it. That’s being consistent.
Sorry, I don’t agree.
Our software has always been meant as a cataloging app to keep track of your collection, what you OWN. So a purchase store field has been in there from the start.
The software was not originally meant as a tracking system for what you SOLD. Recently we added the Sold status for that.
Which I regret now.
Ahhhh, ok. I completely understand where you’re coming from.
I guess the Not in Collection status goes against the idea too? LOL
I will say that having the Sold status has helped me remember that I actually sold an issue rather than having simply misplaced it. So it’s not all bad!
If I can’t persuade you then I’ll stick to using tags.
I apprecaite the dialogue, Alwin!
