SERIOUS BUG: Custom Fields not syncing correctly

Hi,

I just encountered an extremely concerning issue editing some custom fields on mobile (iOS, app v11.0.3), where I edited some custom multi-line text fields inside the app, synced, and then tried to access the same item through a web browser, and then noticed the content of most (multi line text fields, segmented buttons, drop down lists, but NOT check box style lists) custom fields of that same entry were all gone. I’ve been using these same custom fields since the feature launched for web, so they were created through the browser UI.

To be honest, bugs that cause data loss are very scary and should never make it through testing…

Cheers,

Lucas

UPDATE: it’s weirder than I thought: when I sync items to mobile after having edited through the web ui, then open the item on mobile, close the item (without editing anything!), and then try to see the custom fields through the web ui again, they are gone… At least the data doesn’t seem to be gone entirely, since it’s still visible on mobile :-S

Hi Lucas,

That sounds like a bug we fixed in version 11.0.4:

Can you update your app and let me know if that fixes it?

It works now, but you need to edit (i.e. change anything) in an item inside the iOS App, save and then sync it before it shows up again in the web app, so any entry that was edited on the ios app since the feature was added initially will not work until that is done. Is that something that can be solved in a different way?

You could try this instead:

Try CLEARING your CLZ Cloud, and then re-uploading your data from your CLZ mobile app.

FIRST: make absolutely sure you have your latest data in your CLZ mobile app. Then continue with these steps:

  1. Open the app menu, and choose Sync with CLZ Cloud to open the Sync screen.
  2. At the bottom left, click the “Clear CLZ Cloud” button and confirm.
  3. Now sync with CLZ Cloud to upload all your data to the CLZ Cloud again.
