When adding a new artist name for signatures the sort name is last then first by default. Is there any way to change it to first then last?

It is not possible to change that, no.
You can however tell the Web app to ignore sort names completely (so it doesn’t matter what is in the sort name field.
Open menu top left, Click Settings, then find this one
Note that this disables all sort names, so your Series list will also sort based on whatever you have as the title (The Amazing Spider-Man will then sort under T instead of A)
