Syncing genres

We’re using three Android devices (our phones and a tablet) to use CLZ Books. This weekend we decided on genres and subjects for all the books in our library. I entered all of them in their respective folders, using my tablet. We have all three devices set to auto-sync with the cloud. Tonight I started scanning in books using my phone, and some of the genres and subjects available on my tablet are not available on my phone.

We tried clearing the cloud and clearing the local databases on our phones, uploading the database from my tablet to the cloud, and then syncing our phones with the cloud. The genres and subjects are still not available.

If I enter a new book at my tablet and assign an unused genre or subject, then the new genre/subject will appear on my phone after syncing.

Is there a way to make the genres/subjects sync with all three devices even though they might be “empty”

Only books are synced. Genre is only synced if it is assigned to a book.
To get all genres to sync you need to assign them. I would suggest that you create some dummy books for this purpose. You could put the dummy books in a new Collection to hide them out of the way.

Oops , nevermind - I just realized your response addressed this. Can’t delete so :woman_shrugging::upside_down_face:

So, just to help me understand how the app works… The “sync” function doesn’t sync my database, it just syncs my collection?

Yes that is correct.

But usually that should be good enough. I understand you’re in a situation where you had a “decision” on “which genres to use” - which is more of a public/school/business/other library type of approaching this (the software is aimed at the home user).

That said, the solution to just have one book and simply add all genres and subjects to that single dummy book will get all your androids the data.

If you have further concerns, let me know!
