Thoughts on Trading in Music Collector for CLZ Music Web

I have been a longtime Music Collector user, and decided to take advantage of the free trial for CLZ Music Web, but unfortunately I’m really disappointed in it. CLZ Music Web apparently doesn’t collect and store composers at the track level, which is something that I absolutely need for the way that I use my music database. I would lose a massive amount of data in my database if I traded Music Collector for CLZ Music Web. Is there any chance that a track level composer field will ever be added to CLZ Music Web?

For what it’s worth, I was doing a little research and found a website called MusicBrainz that has an API that I believe could be used to add composers for any user who wanted to add that to their music database. The service is not free for commercial use (which yours would be). I certainly can’t speak for other CLZ users but I would be willing to pay for this service as an add-on if it meant I could collect and keep composers as a track level field for my collection. Just a thought.

In any event, I will continue to be a loyal Music Collector user of CLZ. I just won’t be using CLZ Music Web for the foreseeable future.

We’re currently indeed not planning to go deeper into track editing and adding fields - but plans can (and do) change sometimes.

We would never ask “extra money” on top of your normal subscription to be able to edit track specific data or enable more fields there. We would of course put that in the regular subscription for all to use. Adding it as a paid extra would be kinda weird to us, and most importantly likely spark confusion and disappointment with some users.

For your case it would be best to stick with the Desktop version indeed.

Thank you for your thoughts.
