Title is often populated with Original Title even though this is not the title as used on the Item?

For international titles I am finding that the ‘title’ is being populated with the ‘original title’ with the ‘original title’ left blank. Not sure if it makes a difference but this is with Preferred Data Language set to ‘English’.

Some examples include ‘Battleship Potemkin’ being recorded as ‘Bronenosets Potyomkinis’ or ‘The Blue Angel’ being recorded as ‘Der blaue Engel’. Although some titles in the UK are known by their original title such as À bout de souffle many international films are known by an English name and have been published with this title in the UK. Is this a bug or down to how each individual Blu-ray/DVD has been recorded? Is there a way for me to contribute corrections like this?

Both the titles above prioritise the english title on sites such as IMDB etc.

We use the original title for most movies and update the editions under a movie as needed. If you have the barcodes of your editions for me, I will make sure the titles are updated in CORE.

Thanks for the reply @CLZ_Martin.

I just checked and I have about 204 titles with this issue. 166 of these are within 53 ‘boxsets’. Do you know if it is possible to export boxset barcodes? I only appear to be able to export Boxset titles.

Also is there a way to provide this information within the ‘Submit to Core’ feature? It doesn’t appear to have access to ‘Original Title’. I guess I could still submit the international title for the item within the ‘title’ element but this wouldn’t provide the original title for future users. Unless that would be updated by the reviewer?

I will try and list the other 37 titles here:

Just noticed there appears to be an issue with the barcodes (lots of 5060000000000) exported as csv. I will have to check what it going on. Probably how excel is reading the csv.

As example Chelovek s kino-apparatom (1929) should be barcode 5060000702088

Excel was converting long numbers to scientific notation. I will have to do an import and convert to text.
