Transition from CLZ Book Desktop to CLZ Books Web software

Yesterday, I extended and upgraded my long-standing subscription to the most current Book Collector Desktop software (version 22.2.3 build 3) and extended my current Books Mobile subscription, and also purchased a new CLZ Books Web subscription.

While I’ve become accustomed to and relied upon the Book Collector Desktop version for preserving my expanding book collection database (currently consisting of 5,181 volumes) I was also attracted to the prospect of being able to receive regular Automatic Updates to Book Values from CLZ Core.

Now, it appears that I will have to give up my Book Collector Desktop software and transfer my collection database to the CLZ Books Web software. I do want to have access to the Automatic Book Value features, but I’m concerned that I will lose some of my data by making this transfer from one software platform to another.

I’d appreciate any guidance that will allay my concerns about the possibility of losing book collection data in the process of migrating from the Book Collector Desktop software to the CLZ Books Web software platform.

Also, please provide step-by-step instructions on:

(1) how to make this transfer of my book collection database to the CLZ Books Web software platform; and

(2) how to create a link to my collection on the CLZ Books Web for routine access and use in the future.

Thanks for your help.

Do you use the

  • Contents tab in the Edit Book screen?
  • User Defined Fields?

Those do not sync to the web-app.
For User Defined Fields (if you use them (check Tools > User Defined Fields)), you can use menu Tools > Maintenance > Transfer Field Data and send them to a different field.

Use menu CLZ Cloud > Synchronize, and that will send all your books to the web-app. That’s it.

CLZ Books Web is web-based software, a website that you open in your browser. So just like with any other website, you can make a bookmark / favorite in your browser to easily open the CLZ Books Web website. Do you know how to bookmark a website?

The bookmark can also be dragged to your desktop as an icon.

Hope that helps!
