Unable to open old database in latest version of Game Collector

I just recently updated my computer hardware and going through installing all my software I use, including Game Collector. I’ve renewed my license as well. However, I am unable to open the database of my collection that I had backed up on OneDrive. The file is there, but the icon is slightly different, as it has the circular Game Collector logo, but what appears to be a small file box in the lower left corner. Any time I select this file in the Open Database dialog window, the Open button becomes disabled. Why can’t I open my database?

That doesn’t sound like a database file for Game Collector, but I’m not sure. You might wanna post a screenshot of that icon, perhaps it makes it more clear?

I would advise to also enable extension display for Windows:

Open File Explorer; if you do not have an icon for this in the task bar; click Start, click Windows System, and then File Explorer. Click the View tab in File Explorer. Click the box next to File name extensions to see file extensions.

Then look for a file with the .gmc extension - only those are game collector database files.

Valid questions. It was the same database file I had been using since the beginning, and I had file extensions visible. It wouldn’t have shown up in the file dialog otherwise. However, I went to get a screenshot of the icon, and that little box in the corner was gone, and now it loads. I’m guessing it was something with OneDrive. But no more problems here.

Maybe that onedrive icon means it was still downloading/syncing or something!

OneDrive is one of the greatest mysteries in the history of computers, I’d say. Hah.

Glad to hear you got it running now.
