I really hope for an increased functionality in this feature. A functionality that gives the user FULL control over which fields should be updated when running this function.
Why? Because in my case fields I want to keep empty gets filled with data I don’t want to have when running “Update from Core”. Data that I already have deleted at some point and now have to remove once again.
Example:
The “Edition” field, I use this field for Limited Editions, Special Editions, Anniversary Editions and such if my item is a standard edition I keep it empty. In the Core I have noticed that this field can be filled with junk data (my opinion), meaning data that already have its own dedicated field, example “1-disc” (Nr. Of Discs), “Steelbook”(Packaging), “4k Ultra HD + Bluray” (Format) and so on.
I know what you mean. I’ve done an Update from Core, and it updated fields that I didn’t want updated. There’s this dialog where you can select what action to take with many fields. The dialog shows more fields down below, but I couldn’t take the screen shot of the full dialog. However, at the very end, you can see “Edition” is available. Try setting that to “Skip” and see if that leaves your “Edition” entry alone.
Aah, I see now that I posted in the wrong forum. My post should be in the CLZ Movies Mobile forum
I appreciate your reply as it is a great example of the functionality I want for the mobile app. Until then I will use the Web function as a workaround.
So you’d be happy if the functionality of “Update from Core” would extend as much as we have on CLZ Movies Web?
Right now you have 3 fields in CLZ Movies Web (Front Cover, Format, Genres) that you can modify to “Update if empty” or “Replace” - which I have to say - seems to be enough as we never hear requests to have “SKIP” there (which was mostly a Windows version request that seeped into CLZ Movies Web at some point).
Yes I would be happy if the feature in the mobile app had the same functionality as the web feature.
SKIP is important to have because otherwise Update from Core could write data into fields that I want to have empty.
I can understand that this may be a too big project to fix. If so I have another idea that would work for my situation. An “Update backdrop image” feature that only updates the backdrop and nothing else or a feature that lets the user select its own backdrop.
