Users rating system on search results

When adding new albums using the search we get a lot of results which seem to be from other users of the system. There are global databases containing the correct information like CDDB but these results are not selectable (as far as i can see). We have no way to see which result has the most accurate data. Maybe it would be an idea to give the data an automatic or by-users rating (5 star), to give us info on which result to pick or check.

I did select some which i saw later, where very badly entered or way of from other picks. Like the tracklist can be very different.

Maintaining such a rating system would be hard on data which can be changed by users. Why doesn’t CLZ keep it’s own best copy static and present this in the search results?

No that is not the case. It shows results from our own Core central CD database and from the popular Discogs database (for CDs and vinyl).

Yes, like Discogs.com.
That is what we use. Discogs is currently the most popular and most complete database for CDs and vinyl. Some of the Discogs data is user contributed though.

If you see a lot of results, that probably means there are a lot of different releases for that album. Actually different releases with different barcodes and catalog numbers.

I see the “multiple results” even when i scan the barcode so there must be more results in Discogs and/or the core db. These results are -if user editted in Discogs- not all as detailed as others. I understand that verifing these results has to be done manualy then.

And i understand that the user db data from CLZ is not used, which is a good thing.
