How can I use this cataloging system as a public catalog to search for books, make a list and print it?
What is the purpose of the public catalog exactly if I may ask?
You can email people your list by just sending them your public CLZ Cloud link, that can be found in the menu top left under Sharing.
Make sure you set it to public, and not private.
Printing to PDF is done from the same top left menu.
“Making a list” is not something you can do with your own library as such, but you can “checkmark” book entries to select them, then print, and it will only print the selected books.
The public catalog does not have all of the features of cataloging the items and is presented in a different format for searching by topic as well as author and title… I can see that CLZ is a public catalog in appearance and is searchable by different methods. The problem I am having is in making a list. I have checked the items I want but when I change the topic to search, it does not keep the previously checked items. It only shows the last item checked or multiple items checked in that same category. Thanks for replying.
I’m still not quite sure what you mean with public catalog, and how CLZ is a public catalog?
Can you explain a bit more what the purpose of usage is exactly? What the list is for/what you’re trying to do?
In a library system there are multiple interfaces. In the he cataloging interface info is entered as a kind of list of the various library codes. The when the public users log in it is the usual interface with author, title subject, annotation, etc set up more like a traditional catalog card. I can see that CLZ is used as both. I wanted to make use of the check boxes to make a continuous list of books I am interested in checking out. I searched various ways of subjects and genres I wanted checking the boxes along the way. However, it seems when I changed genres, the old lists disappeared and only the last books I had selected were on the pdf list. I finally decided to go through the whole list by title. Took a long time but I did become more familiar with way was actually available in this library. I was able to save the list and print it. Unfortunately, I cannot add to the list. I am not sure I mentioned it, but I am a retired librarian and the really wonderful resident volunteer managing the collection here is not actually a trained librarian and mainly adds new books and checks them out so she is not really familiar with the whole CLZ system but is fine for the needs of this library.
Thanks for your reply, but I have to say I’m not sure I understand still.
Are you trying to use CLZ Books Web to just “search our online Core database” to add books “you might want to read in the future”?
Or are you searching your local database, and then you want to create lists from books you have in your own collection?
Or are you using CLZ Books Web for an actual library with people checking out books etc?
It might help to understand that CLZ Books Web was designed to be used for personal home collections.
I soon realized tyhat CLZ is for private collection. Here is is being used a a catalog of books in a library at a retirement village.
That makes it much more clear. Thank you for explaining!
It might turn out in the end not working for that - but - if you can find a way to use it for that, feel free to do so of course!
I’m very interested in this thread because we have been using this for our retirement community for 3+ years. In the previous version, we offered residents a link to a “cloud” version that allowed them to view but not edit. Has that changed with this latest upgrade? If it’s still available, will the “cloud” link remain the same?
Also, I keep getting Cookie message pop-ups, even if I’ve accepted them. Are there certain options I MUST toggle on in order to clear this pop-up?
Sorry. I am unable to answer any of your questions because I am just a user, not he admin doing the cataloging. Sorry, Cathy
The old cloud link will keep working. The new cloud link just changes the part of “collectorz” to “clz”
In short: you don’t have to change anything. Cloud version still works, if it doesn’t, feel free to contact us through help.clz.com
