Hello, what do we store in the “Menge” field?
Menge means Quantity when I check the English version. If Menge is not the correct German word for Quantity our good friend @BOfH can fix this for you ![]()
Note: this is also a bug: it should not show when quantity=1. We usually only show that field when quantity is set to 0 or to anything higher than 1. I’ve noted this on our bugboard.
Well, I think the Word Anzahl (number, count, and although for quantity) would be more appropiate here. I changed it in the translation tables.
Thanks for notifying. And a happy new year in some hours.
Thanks! And you too!
What quantity or number should be displayed here? The number of discs or something else?
I think, it is the number of items of this type. I changed the entry of field.quantity from Menge to Anzahl, if I remember correctly. The displayed screenshot is from the Personal section of Music Collector.
Since this field in the translation tables is equal for all CLZ programs, I had to choose a general term/translation. Maybe “Anzahl Exemplare” (“Number of Copies”) would be more clear. But this not what CLZ intended. I assume the string “Quantity” origins from the Desktop applications, where field names should contain only one word.
Sorry, but I still don’t understand what he’s counting. If I have 5 LPs of, for example, “Alice Cooper’s Greatest Hits,” does it show a 5 next to all of them?
Yes and No. If you have 5 LPs of Alice Cooper’s Greatest Hits, then you have 2 options to enter them into your database:
-
For each item, you add one entry into you database. A reason for this might be, that there are slight differences between each item, for instance condition of the cover, different values…
-
You have only one entry of the Greatest Hits, and specify/change the field Menge/Anzahl to 5 on the General/Allgemeines (first) Tab of the Edit screen. Then, and I assume only then, you should see the value 5 in the details section of your Album. AJ refers to this field and if I understand him correctly, then the field entry Menge/Anzahl should be only shown, if the value is unequal to 1, resp. greater than one.
[1] It seems, that the change from Menge to Anzahl ist currently not activated

AH OK, now I understand…
Thx
I think Quantity is not the best word to choose. Sounds more like you mean “Number of copies”. This works great for Books, Games, Movies, Music, Comics, but not for Hardware (there I would go for Quantity.
In Dutch I would choose: Aantal exemplaren.
I don’t speak German, but I think @BOfH has the same translation for that field with: Anzahl Exemplare
So now I think Quantity feels wrong.
