I just got a notice that my subscription was ending and went to renew it and noticed that only the monthly subscription has an auto-renewal option. Why is that? I don’t want to pay more to auto-subscribe, so it would have been nice with an auto-subscribe option for yearly as well.
Just noticed that I haven’t reneved my subscription as I was waiting for a reply to this question? I’d like to get back to subscribing so wondering if CLZ could provide an answer
Yearly auto-subscribe is available, but not via our own CLZ Shop.
To get a year subscription, you have to buy it through the CLZ Comics Mobile app itself (same price of course). Would that be an option for you?
Tenzel,
In our own CLZ Shop, at shop.clz.com, indeed only the Monthly subscription is auto-renewing, the Yearly is not (you need to renew it manually each year).
The reason for this is that most ecommerce providers are not too happy with automatically renewing yearly subscriptions, as they are seeing more failed transactions and refund requests for those.
In the Apple App Store and Google Play Store however, the yearly subscriptions ARE autorenewing.
Also, for the mobile apps, we are recommend to subscribe through the App Store and Play Store anyway (we actually prefer that).
Don’t you get less money from App subscriptions than when paid directly?
Yes, we do. And we still prefer subscription to run in the App Store or Play Store.
Several reasons:
- yearly subscriptions do auto-renew (hahah
) - easier to subscribe so better conversion
- less payment problems
- better retention
- credibility with Apple and Google
