There was a vol 1 sale in there because the seller didn’t include any sort of year or volume indication on the listing. Also, this was before we added some additional, recent protections that look at the cover image vs. the sale image for notable differences. The sale has been moved.
Also, just a word of caution. On books in this sub-$15 range, sales are often subject to some built-in variability due to how eBay does completed sale prices. A book might sell for $8 with “free shipping”, but then also sell, in the same condition, for $3 without free shipping. So it might look like there’s a $5 difference when, in fact, the buyer paid the same price. It usually all evens out with a solid mix of free shipping and non-free shipping sales, but it can cause some temporary variability. We have plans to surface free shipping vs known shipping costs, but that’s not always available for every sale, and definitely isn’t available on sales from sites like Heritage, MCS, ComicConnect, and others. So it’s just going to be an extra variable for lower-value books.
All that being said, the shipping variability piece was NOT the culprit here. This time it was just a vague listing leading to a vol 1 sale attaching to a vol 3 book before some additional auto sale matching capabilities came into play.
Thanks for writing in.
