Matrix

Hi CLZ Team,
Is the ability to add “matrix” numbers going to be available on the desktop version?

Hi @malcolm! Of course it won’t be added to the Windows desktop version because that platform is feature dead. :headstone: :wilted_flower:

I suggested that enhancement early last year before the news of Music Collector’s future was publicized. It’s too bad it will only appear in the other music platforms. :sad_but_relieved_face:

Music Collector does support User Defined fields, so it would be possible to add Matrix there.
When UDFs are added to the Web version then it may be possible to copy values from the “real” Matrix field to a UDF Matrix field, and then sync between the systems.

Another vote for adding Matrix Numbers, Last Listened To and Last Cleaned to the desktop version.

I added 2 UDFs specifically to Music Collector to notate when I last listened to an LP and when I last cleaned it (if at all…). Now I get to transfer those dates to the new fields. Matrix numbers hadn’t been an issue but I can see where they’d be helpful. UDFs can accomplish this too.

@voicerboy, how is that possible? I don’t think you can create UDFs for discs, which is where they are needed… one for each disc side. I store mine runouts in Notes.

They would be, as you infer, at the full album level. So if I have one disc, it would be there. As opposed to double albums or box sets, yes notes is perfect. But I’m not worried about matrix info and I now see how my UDF per disc is slightly flawed. Eh, I can deal with it. If I were to use a UDF, it would be text field.

To get around limitations with discs in MuC, I turn multi - disc albums into several single disc albums, and then group these albums together as a box set. Then I can have a separate cover for each disc, or a separate matrix number.

Great idea! That would solve a lot of problems.
