Music Collector desktop software

I would like to be able to subscribe to Music CLZ and use the desktop software. I do not want to use the web-based. But I don’t see an option for downloading the Windows version.

Hello @qbdbubd! Unfortuntately, that won’t be an option for you because the desktop versions are not sold anymore. Here is @CLZ_Alwin’s post that explains why.

You’re at least the second person to ask about the desktop versions since they were removed from the the website when Collectorz.com changed to clz.com earlier this month. Several blog news articles announced the renaming and branding changes and it may help curtail future inquiries if another was created to explain why the desktop versions are missing. Just a thought. :slightly_smiling_face:

If the desktop software will still be working why is it not available to download for the people that don’t want the web based?

It is only available to download for people who had or still have an active subscription.

If you never had it in the past you can not purchase it/download it.

Hi AJ,
I was thinking of reviving my expired Music Collector and Comic Collector software’s. Is this still possible? Or am I SOL?

Yes, you can re-new old licenses.
Just log in here: Log in - CLZ Shop and it will understand what you can renew.

Cool I’ll be doing it soon

If you had a license or subscription in the past, you CAN still download it from your account at my.clz.com

I have Book and Movie but haven’t had a Music Subscription. If I purchase the Music Web based would you be able to send the download file for the desktop.

Sorry, that won’t work.
But as an existing desktop user, we can let you buy the Music Collector software, if you really really want it.
(the best solution of course would be to switch to the Web software for all 3)

I really, really want it. Thank you!! Let me know what I need to do on my end.

Just subscribe for Music Connect through our CLZ Shop, then contact us at help.clz.com afterwards and we will transfer the subscription to Music Collector.

Hi! Long-time music collector here.

I find it troubling that the desktop version seems to be out of development. I have 3774 albums (and more than twice as many discs) cataloged in it, including multiple-disc classical music box set beasts such as https://www.discogs.com/release/13991809 – yes, it takes forever to load. Discogs needs a rewrite.

I have been using the desktop version since 2006 or so. While I am more than happy to switch to web apps, I’m worried that the feature set in the CLZ Music web app is a subset of the desktop version.

I have not been impressed with the iPadOS/iPhoneOS versions, because you can’t (for example) select a set of discs in a release and change an artist on all of them. If that’s how the web app will work… well, you know the answer.
Thank you.

I wish I could edit responses here.

Indeed the web-app, same as mobile, doesn’t have an “edit disc” screen (not to be confused with edit album screen), nor a “disc artist” (not to be confused with the normal artist).

I wouldn’t call it a subset, CLZ Music Web can do other things a *lot better and it has several features already desktop does not. That said, I’m not here to debate how you feel about keep using the desktop software. You like it, great! It works great for you? Awesome. I recommend just staying with the legacy desktop software

As for editing posts…
