Switching From Comic Collector Live

We made it smart. We’re linking those series on an internal ID for you, so you, the user can give your Spider-Man series any name YOU like, and when you add from Core, it will just put that issue nicely under the series name you have chosen.

Although me, but hey, I’m from CLZ, I like keeping them in sync with whatever Core has

I wouldn’t use mass edit for this, rather use Update from Core and replace Series with it, for all comics!

Yes, if you mark them as “replace” then for those, it will do that. (so, maybe do that for Series, if you like our naming

Alright then!

Yes that approach is working great so far! Thank you for the information.

Okay things are going great now. I have one specific problem I’d love some help with. I accidently associated Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 2 with Vol. 3. I went through all 25 issues one by one and clicked Unlink From Core, and renamed it to the originally imported name (Darth Vader (2017)). However, whenever I try to relink it to Vol. 2 as it should be, it forces a link back to Vol. 3. I thought it was because the details match with Vol. 3 now (due to my accidently applying the Vol. 3 properties), but I’ve now edited/erased most of the details / dates from my entries in the database and it still won’t link them properly. Any ideas on how to fix my goof?

To make it more interesting- I previously added Vol 3 correctly.

Alrighty!

So, unlinking is indeed correct.

Then, go to link screen again (menu > import/export > link comics)

Then click the series.
Then click SELECT SERIES

Then make sure you actually type in a new search and search.

Then select your series.

Thanks @CLZ_AJ ! Believe it or not, that’s what I am doing. I think there’s a glitch. I click Select Series, search for Star Wars: Darth Vader, the search results appear, I select Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 2, and lastly click “Link” … and it doesn’t take. No error message or anything - it just ignores my choice and still shows Vol. 3 on the right-side screen. I’ve even changed the dates on the series as I have it to 2017 dates to ‘convince’ the database that I’m linking to the correct series and it still ignores my choice for some reason.

I’ve reproduced this indeed. It seems to not be able to re-link it to Star Wars Darth Vader, Vol. 2 at all.

I’ve forwarded the issue to the development team to take a look at. I’ll be in touch.

Thank you! If it would help, maybe it could just be deleted from my CCL list and I could re-import just that title to link it properly?

I wouldn’t do that. Please just leave this one be, and we will get back to you. We already have your data copied to a develop server, to work on this bug. Thanks for your patience!

Sounds good! No problem I have plenty more to work on haha! Yeah I wasn’t planning to do anything until you guys say so. Thanks again!

@tmadoc,

We’ve just uploaded a fix for this. Can you give it another try, to link Star Wars: Darth Vader again?

Let me know how that goes!

Thank you @CLZ_AJ ! I’ll try when I get home tonight.

Hi @CLZ_AJ, got another ‘problem child’, haha. Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures isn’t picking up the core title of “Classic Star Wars: Early Adventures” for issues 2-9. It did for issue 1 - I erroneously linked it individually somehow and for some reason it ignored my linking of 2-9. It still has it in the CCL name format. When I try to Update From Core on 2-9 it ignores it, similar to the Darth Vader book (what is it with me and Star Wars, haha). I’ve also tried unlink/relink and it still ignores the core title/settings. Can you help?

@tmadoc linking, the gift that keeps on giving

I’ve unlinked one of the books, then relinked the series and I think they all have the correct IDs now.

Can you check again?

Yes, problem is fixed! Thank you AJ!

One more @CLZ_AJ - this time it’s Marvel Masterworks: Avengers. #5 shows up right, but #1 - #4 accidently got linked to the newer “Mighty” Marvel Masterworks series. I changed the variant cover to the correct 2009 series ones, but the title and other info still reflects the newer releases. Can you help? Or is there a way I can fix this without bugging you ?

I’ve unlinked issue 5 from that series, you should be able to re-link it now: just find the single issue, and click the 3 dotted menu, and then click Link to just link one issue

That said I don’t see an issue 5 for that series with us - unless I’m looking wrong

Thank you @CLZ_AJ ! However - it’s the other way around :). Issues 1-4 were linked to “Mighty” Marvel Masterworks. Issue 5 was linked correctly to ‘Standard’ Marvel Masterworks. So I need 1-4 to be linked to ‘Standard’ as well. Again - if there’s a way for me to do it without bugging you please let me know!

It is a bit difficult all, to unlink, you have to do it “per issue”:

  • click an issue
  • click the 3 dots above the details,
  • then unlink.

I did this for all 4, and then I used the regular link screen to link them to the other series you mentioned.

I then used Update from Core on all 4 and replaced series.

I then linked issue 5 (click the issue, click 3 dots, click “Link” to the right one (I think).

I think we’re there! But perhaps with that information you can do this yourself next time - but if not, just let me know.
