Sync with CLZ cloud issue

Hello, for the last couple of days whenever i update values/keys etc. and then tap “Sync with CLZ Cloud” i usually get a “Sync Error Timeout” message. Afterwards, when i try again i get some “Conflict Resolved” entries for the updated issues, after which the sync completes.

This is not a one time issue however, it’s the same whether on WiFi or mobile data, with Auto Sync on or off so i assume it may not be something on my side.

ps. i’m using CLZ on my mobile not the PC version.

Sorry to hear you’re having troubles syncing.

If you get “conflict resolved” it sounds like there are some devices where you tried modifying stuff that wasn’t synced from a different device.

  • do you use multiple devices where you sync?
  • can you make sure to disable “auto-sync” and ONLY use regular syncing?
  • do you often modify covers yourself?

I’ve been getting a timeout error as well for the past two days using the manual sync.

No i only use my mobile phone. I HAVE changed phones recently, but i factory reset the old one, so i do not have the app locally anywhere else.

It makes no difference either way, but yes i have unchecked auto sync and the problem is the same

  • do you often modify covers yourself?

No, only very rarely if at all

I seem to be having the same sync issue. I only have the moblie, dont change covers and never have auto sync on

Can you tell me:

  • Do you use an Android or an iPhone? (and which type?)
  • do you have upsyncs only right now?
  • how many devices do you use?
  • when did this start happening?
  • what is the exact error message you are getting?

Hi @CLZ_AJ , just wanted to let you know that synching has started to act up again (same behaviour as before) i.e. i get a sync timeout followed by conflict resolved messages after which the sync ends successfully.

Same as before, auto sync is off, no other devices used for updates and i do not modify covers.

Can you post a screenshot as well?

And anything change in your internet setup, speeds all good?

This is the first message i get. I have to exit sync and try again, otherwise it will not work.

Afterwards, i get this view and it usually moves forward and completes.

I have tried both Wifi and my cell network and it’s always the same issue, so i doubt it’s the network speed.

I don’t see anything strange on our servers here right now.

After the conflicts are resolved, is the amount of upsyncs empty?
If you then open the sync screen again, are they back again those upsyncs?

(we might need to wait till after the weekend until I can actively dive into this with one of our Android developers)

We are switching on some logging on our servers to see if anything is timing out that is causing this.

  • Could you temporarily switch on Auto-sync and see if that eventually makes it through? (the sync button disappears once the auto-sync completes)

And my previous questions:

  • After the conflicts are resolved, is the amount of upsyncs empty?

So, the sequence goes like this so far.

  1. i try to sync and get the timeout message with X local changes to be uploaded.
  2. i press OK and nothing happens (still X local changes to be uploaded).
  3. i press back and get to the main screen (sync button appears on the right bottom)
  4. i press the sync buttom to sync again and in the sync screen there are still the previous X local changes to be uploaded & Y cloud changes to be downloaded (Y being less than X and very often a round 50, for some reason).
  5. I press sync, where conflict resolved messages start to appear (same number as the Y cloud changes above described in step 4) and then sync proceeds and is completed for the X local changes to be uploaded.

So, to anwser your questions, after the conflicts are resolved, there is always an amount of upsyncs to go through, the same as before the timeout.
When i open the sync screen again, the upsyncs have gone through and are not back again.

Apologies for taking a bit more time to respond & i hope i understood your questions correctly,. I have tried to be as precise as possible.

I will switch on autosync and let you know how it goes.

Can you disable auto-sync again, and then try to reproduce the problem?

We’ve enable some logging on our side to see if we can see why this is happening. What we need from you now:

  • Can you please try syncing again, and let me know if you got the time-out and “conflict resolved” issue again.
  • And around what time you tried it (and your timezone please).

That way we can hopefully find the root cause of this problem!

Auto sync is off again.

Just did a value update (11.54 am Eastern European Time/Greece) and the sync was completed without problem (around 21 updates).

I will run another value update at night and let you know how it goes, hopefully it will be a bigger batch of updates to upload to test.

I just did an update from core for all my comics as there were no fresh value as of now (i know we are advised not to update from Core regularly) and got the timeout message & failure to sync described above, 13 values total.

My timestamp for the update is 12.39 EET (Greece).

  • you are using update values and update from
    Core to trigger sync changes so you can test this for us right?

  • the timeout and failure to sync are both happening only in the sync screen? (Not update from core or update values?)
